This time of year hummers will used the hostas. It is usually juveniles that will check out anything with blooms but they aren't a favorite source. They are good however to help fill in shady areas. I have several under a tree. Some bloom late spring uearly summer and some are finishing up now. They grow and multiply fast. By next spring the ones you bought may be twice a big. the upright growing fuchsias also work very well in shade and the hummers use the blooms alot. I have Gartenmeister Bonstedt and they bloom all summer until they are killed by frost.
