Hi goldenpond.....I too enjoy the hummers. My first was last February. He stayed around for about two months then I guess flew north. Last week we were blessed with another....a juvenile or a female, not sure. Comes to visit many times during the day. Enjoys the nectar feeder and sips on my pentas, shrimp plant and various others.

I am so excited! I just saw a hummingbird flying in and landing on the branches of my nearly bare Crape Myrtles. I couldn't see it well eno0ugh to ID, just that the beak was very dark and so was the head. The beak was really long as well. I ran to get my camera and of course the battery needs charging and so I mixed up some sugar water and put up a feeder. The yard behind me has a large amount of Cape Honeysuckle in bloom and I have Cuphea and some Mexican Flame Vine as well as some Salvia in bloom.

I don't see them frequently, usually one in the early migration north and that is about it. I am hoping this one will hang around a few days at least.
