Is It Spring Yet?

Even though most of the snow has melted, except for the big pile at the end of my driveway next to the street. It won't melt until June!

The sun is shining, but the temps are still cold and the wind chills are still biting. And WHO radio says to expect some more snow this weekend. (sigh)

But,

There are seeds packets in the stores and the city free mulch pile has thawed and the mud around it has dried.

I'm ready to play in the out of doors!

Is it Spring yet? (grin)

It is really coming. I have snowdrops up about half an inch. I can just make out those little buds. I can hardly wait to see them bloom.

And I've heard from two people today that they saw a robin.

The snow missed us in the Ames area. I've been hearing robins but not seen one yet. I've been buying seeds and reading gardening magazines, I'm stoked.

Robins? I haven't seen any such thing here in Cedar Rapids! Maybe today. I've got the garden itch though. I went ahead and started some broccoli and cabbage hoping that I could get it out the first week in April. Can you say that I'm an optimist? :)

I live right near beaver creek in urbandale, and we have had robins here for over a week. I don't mean one or two, I mean 20 or 30! Either they are very confused, or the rest of the winter is going to be mild (crossing all my fingers and HOPE-HOPE-HOPING for the second option)

I have seen the flocks of robins, too. They're stripping the shriveled fruit from the crab apple trees, and messing around in the leaf litter on the ground.

The REAL way to know that spring is coming soon? There is some activity on this board! Good to see you again, folks.

I haven't seen a robin yet (Quad Cities, IL), but I have heard the cardinals chirping in the morning! I'm missing the little robins!

Just got back in town from Galena, so cold but had to shop the main drag. If anyone lives there or near, I got really good discounts in almost every store. Got a $300 bag for 1/2 off!

Dh says he sees robins all winter long in timber. But you know it's spring got flash flood warnings. Main prayer at Koszta church this am no more rain. Send it to Texas to put out the fires. Wish I could have gotten out Our nice warm days last week. But had to work long hours.
