With bedding Impatiens the seed pods look like little footballs. When they ripen they will pop and through their seeds everywhere.

They seem to be more common with the larger imps (grow bigger, bigger flower varieties - ie blitz, tempos, envoys, infinity, etc.) Later in the season - like now - would be the time to look for them... Are you planning to try and grow from seed? If you have a hybrid you may end up with a different plant if you grow from seed... :)

Mine has them. Just starting to form. Maybe you have to wait a little longer in the southern states.

I looked again today and no pods yet. :( The periwinkles are just starting to form their little club-like seedpods but I'm sure frost will get them before the seeds ripen. Everything has been effected by the abnormal heat and drought here this year.

I have an over abundance of them. I'll share the seed I get from them if anyone is interested. They'd be dark crimson/pink.

I think next spring I'm going to start them from cuttings. I have so many I'm wintering over it would be the fastest way to go and I'd know the colors. :) I also have the doubles I hope to start from cuttings. They charge $3 to $5 a plant here for the doubles. I don't think the doubles make seed pods.

I'm in zone 6 Kentucky and mine have the pods all over them. I just read up tonight on how to get the seeds from them as I thought the pod itself was a seed. I don't know if mine are ready yet though, after reading up on it. I should have pink and a dark but bright pink batch if I can get the seeds. I am just starting to harvest seeds and am getting into it.

Usually by late summer I see seed pods on them but not this year. It may be all the intense 100+ F days we've had or the lack of rain... something.
