I just recently found 7 showy orchis, white, one blooming, and i think some might be pink, but no blooms yet on the others!!

We have lots of showy orchis in our woods, and a few Loessels liparis. I've been helping to clean garlic mustard out of a nearby(near to Iowa City)woodland preserve, and there are thousands of puttyroot orchids growing there (Aplectrum hyemale). I was given one plant of yellow ladyslipper quite a few years ago, and probably have twenty five plants now. The deer, garlic mustard, habitat loss, and plant poachers are really destroying our native orchids.

This past Thursday evening, I found some wild orchids blooming at Hawthorn prairie in Mahaska county. I am still working on the ID.
