Plant identification at my new house

I moved into my first house in March. Being that it's my first house, I have no idea what most of the plants are.

I was curious if any of you could check out some of my plant pics and identify anything.

Also, if you notice any weeds, let me know, so I can yank them out :)

I don't know what's a weed, and what's a plant. It's all mostly green. Except for a dark maroon plant by my front pine tree that looks like milkweed or something??

Congratulations on your new house. You've got a lot of Snow on the Mountain which I'd try to isolate or eradicate, depending on where it is. It takes over everything and should be planted in its own space where it can fill in and stay within its boundary. I don't have time to download all those pictures but on your plants by house pic are Hosta Undulata Albomarginata, Snow on the Mountain and looks like a daylily in the back. Hostas on the foundation of the 2nd plants by house pic are Hosta Lancifolia.

Where is your house? Maybe you could get together with one of the gardeners here and they can take a look at your plants up close. Then you would know what weeds to pull and which plants to leave or move.

Looks like you have nice, mature trees, daylilies of some kind to the left of the front door, several shrubs, hostas and lots of snow on the mountain (bishop's weed).

Also, if we know where you live we can let you know about garden classes, seminars and sales.

Hmm, I wasn't much help, was I?

The bushy stuff pic looks like a spirea of some type. The daylilies look like the orange ditch lilies I have. Looks like there were some irises by the pine also. I am not the best identifier around, sorry!

You have aegopodium....that varigated stuff that should come out....2 kinds of hosta....green along one side of the house...I saw iris of some sort....and what probably is orange ditch lily.
I see Spirea ..probably Anthony Waterer....and peonys.

It looks like sedum next to the hosta albomarginata on the NW side of the house, but it doesn't seem to like the location it's in--it's leggy. Too much shade perhaps? I'm not sure which of the sedums this is. Does anyone else know?

I live in Ames. I'm not much on gardening yet, but I'd be curious to know what the best route for me to go is. It seems like the plants have just kind of taken over to their full potential. The neighbor told me the lady who use to live here never did any gardening, and these are simply all perennials that have been here forever.
My fiancee is the one I am placing in charge of the flowers though, but I'll be sure to pass any information along to her.
