Perhaps spotted cucumber beetle.

The Mexican Bean Beetle not only looks a lot like a yeallow Lady Beetle it is from the same family of insects, the black sheep of the Lady Beetle family.

sharon, it can sometimes be very useful if we know on what kind of plants you are seeing these insects.

Could it be an asian lady bug? They are just beginning to be well established in this country.

Possibly, maybe a Spotted Cucumber Beetle but they look nothing like a yellowish Lady Beetle and the Asian Lady Beetles would be more a reddish orange.

Without any hint of the kind of plant sharon is finding these insects on, I'd still have to agree with jean about the spotted cucumber beetle. Sharon described it as 'resembling a ladybug, but longer and more narrow'. I wonder what 'kind of yellow and spotted' means, lol!
