I bought a 1/3 horse submercible pump. $56.00 is a really good price. It is about ??50/80 GPM?? out put. I have a 2" preasure release opposite the out going manifold. I suppose it could support 60 two litre coke bottle plants with no strain.

Any way Walmart sells this pump and it will do for most home hydro people. I checked around for a while before I found what I wanted...

3-6 GPM or 180-400 gal/hr should be good for 16 plants.

I have used .25 gpm/plant site/minute successfully for years.

Waaaaaay less than 1/3 hp.

I got a 300 gph submersible pump at Home Depot for $30.00

I use Rio 600 submersable pumps. They cost 12-14 dollars online and I've never had one fail me. They are super easy to maintain.

My first garden was very much like yours with 16 plant sites. Click on the link below and then go to the misc garden pics album to see it. The other album is my garden today and I am still using the same pumps as when I started.

Just remember the pump head is the most important specification. Keep the pump as close to your feed lines as possible. I usually shoot for about 18 inches maximum and have never had any problems.
