You can also just write on the fans with black marker. It will last until the fans grow off.

You know, I thought of that, but the irises are mostly in my front yard by my front door and I wasn't sure I could discreetly mark them until everything finished blooming. I like the idea though! ;) I'll use that idea in my backyard. Thanks!

Be sure to cut the stalks at an angle so rain runs off. Also about 2". If you live in a rainy area uncut stalks can rot to base. Also could just a number with the number and description on a list. Don't use 6 or 9.

I have used the writting method quite nicely.

I've also used curly ribbon tied to the flower stalk to mark them (different colored ribbon for different colors) that works quite well.

I read this recently to tag: use a disposable alum. pie pan: cut into small strips: bear down hard as you write the name of the bulb; this won't fade, rot, etc.

What a great idea! I need to label some daffodils so I can dig out just one over-represented variety. I canÂt write on anything as narrow as a daffodil leaf: but your rubber band idea should work great! I thought of tying string around the bunches but this is much less work and very unobtrusive. Thanks!
