I don't know how much space you can devote to irises, but I have bloom from February through July and then chancy rebloom in the late summer and fall.

Start with reticulata irises and dutch, which are bulbous.
With the bearded, there are median and tall bearded. Select varieties that are labeled to bloom E(early), M (mid-season) and L (late). You may be able to grow some beardless such as Louisianas, spurias, siberians, and Japanese (the last to bloom). Your zone is probably ideal for rebloom, and if you are in CA, you have the California native irises.

Bloom can go on for months, but there is a peak when the tall bearded bloom. There is overlap and succession of bloom.

Thank you - mine are the bearded - perhaps I will try to grow iris again - (not too many survived the original dozen or so). But I wasn't particularly nice to them either. I wasn't aware that they came in early, mid and late bloom times.
