Irises grown in California and Oregon tend to get huge rhizomes.

I have ordered from Napa Country, Blue J, Sutton's, Wild Iris Rows, Stanton, Horton, and a few others and I have been happy with all of them. I got a few mismarked irises from Schreiner's and Blue J, but they sent the right irises the next year. I have heard good things about His Iris Garden too, and Loretta Headrick, the owner, is a friend of mine on Facebook.

I have Sierra Grande, it is beautiful, but the standards are NOT pure white with me. They are very light blue.

Yes, I agree wieslaw59. But I like the pale blue standards just the way they are. I'm glad they aren't white. This is an absolutely beautiful iris....especially when you can catch a fresh bloom when the conditions are cool and when the sun is just starting to go down.

During those conditions it looks very, very true blue. Just gorgeous.

Another somewhat similar color combo is World Premiere, a Schreiner's Iris. Very "inky" looking falls.

I was just looking at the list of iris growers and the information about Schreiner's needs an update. Sadly this year they changed their pricing and no longer offer the red star discount. Like when you order $80 worth, you get them for $40. They have repriced their irises, but it is not as good as the offer was before. Must be a sign of the poor economy. I miss the red star discount!
