Real novice

Hello - I am totally inexperienced when it comes to irises, except that I like them! I am starting to move to northeastern Alabama (Gadsden) and the property already hassome irises on it, so I have a head start! I have a lot of questions - like definitiions of Dutch, Siberian, and bearded irises. Can anyone suggest a book that would help? Also, what kinds do you recommend for my area, which is on the border between zones 7 and 8. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't know what to recommend in the way of specific irises for your new home, but I can direct you to lots of information on different iris types.

Among the popular classes, the only irises you probably couldn't grow would be the California natives and some other western US species. You have a very wide range to choose from.
