Is it a weed?

I purchased what I thought was a Hydrangea Arborescens Annabelle at a nursery which has a 'no hassle" return policy for one year, but you have to bring back the plant.
So before I start digging, I wonder if anyone can make a guess on whether this is a "wild" variation or the real thing.
I planted it in May 2014 and this is what it looked like (pic) at its peak (June). The flowers are very small and only 1.5 to 2 inches in size. Since then, new blooms came but they don't seem to mature. I am a bit disappointed, but wonder if I have to be more patient and wait till next year?
I appreciate any feed back or experiences.
Thanks
