Fogbound

I threw Fogbound away when it first bloomed but got it again when I heard it was a good parent ( a fact which remains to be seen).

Here the color is not even close to what George has captured. FB is a very pale, washed out thing as it grows here. This picture looks more like Opposing Forces in my garden, except that the red beard is solid.

Both are good growers, but FB just has nothing going for it for me. I hope I change my mind when I see my children from it. Though I might see some this year, but that Easter killer freeze got the buds.

I see FB listed in lots of parentages, but if you were to come to my garden looking for it, I bet you couldn't find it. It is so pale here and not bold as your picture shows. The beard is insignificant, too. I had it from Keith himself, and that was the one that was discarded. The other is from a Texas source, and it blooms just like the original, one you wouldn't give a second glance. And, it's up for the Dykes! Must be pretty in every garden but mine!!

That seedling is beautifullllll! I ordered 3 Fogbound last year and didn't get a bloom this year. That coldsnap in April and an April colder than March had a very profound affect. I am still dealing with rot issues in some plants, my most established ones, as a matter of fact. I am hoping to use Fogbound to make crosses next year. I keep seeing it as parent behind so many gorgeous cultivars. Thank you for the info on the health and floriferousness. These are good things to know from someone experienced. Thank you very much for your willingness to share.
Walter, it is also good to know if mine bloom pale that they still hold potentially good genes to pass on. Good info.
