help with my iris

Hi I planted about 50 iris last fall 05. (they were actually transplanted from my neighbor) This spring they all came up the plants look beautiful large and tall. But only four plants actually got a stem and blooms. What did I do wrong is it too late for blooms could they be late bloomers? Is there some thing i can do to 'jump start' them? advice GREATLY appriciated!

You probably did nothing wrong. It is very common for iris to skip a year after transplanting. The rhizomes also could need a year to reach bloom size. I would fertilizer them with a low nitrogen fertlizer. Low first number is always best for iris.
