Notice that the Lee Valley kit uses metal pads and wire, not plastic suction cups and fishing line. Most plastics deteriorate in sunlight because of the UV rays. Fishing line, for sure, loses it's strength. Probably the suction cups will too. I would use rustproof metal parts.

I just wanted to report back... I created the fishing line trellis last summer out of the dollar store suction cups, GE silicone and fishing line, and it's withstood Ontario's winter and sun's rays so far... here's a pic.

Your trellis looks great--I'm inspired to try my own this weekend!

I love it when people use ideas as a catalyst to create their own stuff. I do a lot of this and it gives me such a "charge". Your trellis is great! I may have to try it myself. Thanks for sharing.
