Overwintering cuttings

I have about 60 cuttings that were potted up in late June. The varieties include: Nikko Blue, Lady in Red, Endless Summer, Tokyo Delight, Enziandom, Glowing Embers, Variegata, Mathilda Gutges and others. Please no comments on how LIR and ES are patented - they came from plants I bought and will not be sold. Most of the cuttings are now 9 -12 inches high and doing great. My winters average a low of 35 F and a high of 60 F. A few days will be in the teens at night and only get up to maybe 35 F. All cuttings are planted in 1 gallon containers. My plan is to put them all in a sheltered spot and cover the entire area with hardwood mulch to about 1 inch up the stems. Will this work? Should I bring them into the garage and water sparingly? Thanks for your help - Mark
