Susan, I'm sure that there is a wide variation in flavors. I'd really like to find out in person, maybe when I retire in a few years... but deteriorating conditions in that part of the world may exceed my risk threshold by then.

Hard to top that bean photo, but the same site also had photos of many different varieties of olives (the author said 100 different kinds!!!) and a stand with about 2 dozen different apricots. What a place for gastronomic exploration!
