And so the local sales begin......

I went to the first iris sale today with a firm resolve of buying only five. I have another sale to go to in two weeks and I already have enough coming in to fill up the new bed I'm digging, so I thought I could behave. So how did I come home with EIGHTEEN???

Which ones are you finding out there?

Neil

You have a good mix of color and vintage.

Are you going to plant them out in the hot, hot sun or pot them?

I just potted twelve new ones today and put them in the shade.

    Hi Walter-

No, I'll plant them out tomorrow. They'll get full scorching sun all afternoon and I'll water occasionally until I start to see new growth. Then they're on their own water- wise. I won't have any problems until late Fall when we'll have a wet spell for a few weeks and I'll have to watch for rot.

My first available sale is July 9, then one on the 16th and then another in August. I've already got over 100 new this year but can't wait for the sales. I'll probably get more sibs and medians trying to stay away from TBs for now as those are mostly what's coming in order/trades.

Our local sales are both in August..the 14 and then the following week plus two auctions as well.
I am the chairperson for one of them and we always have lots of the medians and they go fast at $1.00 each and they are usually the last 5-6 years. Donated from hybridizers. We are very lucky there.
Every year I say NO MORE since I ordered tons already but you know it does not work. Lucky for me I still have another 6 acres to go

Each year I have 3 sales I can attend. This year they are 7-9, 7-16, and 7-23. I can't go to any of them because of my son's allstar baseball teams, no way to be in Baltimore/Washington and Hagerstown at the same time. So everybody go out and enjoy the sales and tell me all about the wonderful bargains and new intros you find.
