They do that to my iris, too. Luckily they cut them low enough - I can still enjoy the flowers in a vase at home. It's definitely the snail and slug time in my garden - lots of rain recently - as usual in May and early June.

I had a lot of slug damage this year. Slugs are sneaky, so it took me a while to realize that they were the culprit.

I had some big snails! The easiest way to do 'em in is to smash one near where it was munching. Then put your poison around the body. They are carniverous. And the that smell attracts them like no poison does. A tiny bit of wet cat food can also be used as bait.

Slugs are my worst garden enemy here by the forest. They are huge! I HATE them!!!! They've eaten many things in my garden. Including eating right through an Iris bloom stalk. A semi-buried cool-whip container with the top on, with a hole in the top, with beer inside lures them to a drowning if you don't want to use chemicals.

yep, it's happened in my garden and it took a while to conclue that it was probably slug damage.

Fortunatley, DH has a BIG veggies garden that the slugs prefer.

Now this year I had no iris stalks biten off but am having lily stlak chewed through. For this I am blaming a rabbit that I see hanging around...
