No, I don't think so. My first bloom of Violet Turner looked just like the pictures. Can you post a photo of it?

I thought it wasn't going to change but I think it may be doing just that! We have clay soil and I know it changes some daylilies. Do you think it can change an iris too? Today I went out and the standards are now turning lavender like in the pictures. Hopefully it will keep changing. I'll try to get a pic up as soon as I get my camera back. Thanks. Marg

I think I found what was supposed to be VT. There's a picture of Blast in sunnyjay's post today. Pretty sure they're the same one. Now the search is on for the real VT. Marg

Just want to add a note for newbies reading this post. Iris blooms will fade just like other flowers - some more, some less. But they will not be a different color in sandy soil versus clay soil. The weather can enrich colors some years - same color but more saturated.

I thought I had found it in Blast but that's not the case. Blast is an intermediate and mine is a TB. Mine is the same color tho. I did find another one that is similar called Photogenic but it has a blue spot around the beard and the falls on mine are just dark velvety purple. As soon as I get my camera back I'll post a pic. Marg, have you checked BlueJ's online catalog? You can search it by color, and they grow a huge number of irises. Have you tried contacting the seller? Sometimes they can identify an iris for you. I look forward to the pic.

I can see why you thought it might be BLAST after seeing my picture. The colours are similar but the flowers on yours are a lot bigger than the ones on mine. Good luck with finding the I.D.

Wow, that's a beauty. It looks like a recent introduction- with all of the ruffles and the band of light color at the bottom of the falls. Have you looked through MidAmerica's online catalog?
