I don't know what to tell you except that they are prolific. I planted at least that many and they grew and produced regularly till late fall. I put tons of them in the freezer but I had to pick them almost every day and for sure every other day.

What can you describe about the TASTE of the Rattlesnakes? I see they're related to pinto beans, which don't particularly tickle my palate. The only recipes I've seen use them dried -- how are they cooked fresh?

Two plantings is recommended. Rattlesnake is extremely productive. Also, a week between pickings might be too long. I've found the young pods to be better tasting and much more tender.
