Iris cycloglossa--hardiness??

Hi. I hope someone on this forum can help. I'm tempted to add Iris cycloglossa to my garden, this fall, but various sources have listed its lowest hardiness anywhere from zone 3 to zone 7. Although I'm technically in zone 3, I have many sheltered spots in my yard, and I grow several so-called zone 5 plants. Zone 7 may be a little out of my range, though!!

Iris ensata is not supposed to grow here, but I have a happy plant in my garden. Will Iris cycloglossa also prove to be amenable, or would I just be wasting my money (it's not cheap!) and condemning the poor bulb to death?

Thanks, in advance, for any opinions.
