First off, if it came in decorative plastic or foil, remove that right away! You may find that it's been sitting in rancid water since the last time the store watered it. Turned-down leaves are fairly common on lilies, so they may look "droopy", but still be healthy. Check the texture--if stiff and crisp like fresh Romaine lettuce, OK; if limp like a wet paper towel, be very concerned.

As for normal care, water the pot thoroughly when the top 1/4 inch of soil is dry, then let it dry out again. Keep it where it gets plenty of light, but not too much direct sun: an east facing window, or south or west facing with chintz curtains. Outside should be fine as long as it isn't freezing, and it gets afternoon shade. No feeding should be necessary until after the flowers drop.

For permanent care, I need more info. What zone system are you using? The Sunset zone 11 is the medium to high deserts of southern California and Nevada, which have sufficient winter chilling to perennialize Oriental lilies. USDA zone 11 is a nearly tropical climate which is unlikely to get cold enough in the winter for them. There are several other pertinent differences involved, too.
