Peanuts are grown much like bush dried beans. They are tender perennials so they will grow until frost. My main pest is the cottontail. Seems they will make almost any effort to get to them.

We raised peanuts in Warsaw, Indiana; back in the 80s. They did well.

My grandfather grew a hugh field of them. When it was time to harvest them. We pulled them up,& stacked them on a pole to cure. Don't remeber how long that took, because when you first take them out of the ground they are soft. If you eat very many of them right then you will get sick & possibly spend alot of time in the bathroom. After they have cured their shell will be hard. We had peanuts all winter long. Grandma would roast them in a pan in the oven of a wood cookstove. Boy were they ever good. Oh yeah Grandpa used horses to plow with not tractors or tillers. Best of Luck.
