Yellow flag iris help needed urgently!

Hello. I have what is probably a very stupid question, but I've already deducted the points off my IQ, so you won't need to waste time doing that. I moved some of my yellow flags from my pond to a nice shady/damp area next to my house where for the past two years they have done extremely well. My question is this:Now that they have finished blooming, they are doing their "droopy" thing and not looking so really wonderful anymore and I would like to know if I can or should cut them down to a more managable size now. They stand (when they DO stand) about 5 feet tall. If I cut them down to say, 3 feet now, would that hurt them? All the flower bulbs or whatever those gizmachies are that sprout out of them, have gone away, so it's just these stalks laying about. When this happens in my pond, I just whack them off and the next year they are back bigger and better than ever, but those have their feet in water all the time and these "landlubbers" may have different needs. So, HELP! Please and thank you!
