Postscript to Acadianbelle: to paraphrase another designer on Houzz: we love the interaction on Houzz, however we get a lot of duplicate questions on the same photos. We end up answering questions like "what's the color of the cabinets?" 5 and 6 times on the same photo ;)

Granite on countertop. I saw all of questions on this site, but no answers. Usually my questions have been posted by others so no need to duplicate. Thanks!

For some reason the answers don't always show up; I'm not sure why. Other Houzzers have asked about the countertops and I've had to tell them that the countertop surface is Emporador Dark Marble with a double ogee edge. Although most professionals don't recommend marble for a kitchen countertop because of it's tendency to etch when exposed to acids such as vinegar, tomatoes, lemons, and coffee, we still have a fair number of clients who feel that the look is worth the trouble, and we have done a number of kitchens with marble countertops. I've been asked if there is a granite with a similar look, and the answer is no. I do like the warm brown of Silestone's engineered stone "Merope," (which is even more durable than granite) but it doesn't have the lovely golden veins that you see in the Emporador Dark..
