They will climb, they spiral around it. One string will be OK, but two wouldn't hurt. Sometimes they wander!

the baler twine works ok. Binder twine is much easier to use, but much harder to find. No binders in use anymore. I use at at 12- 16 intervals suspended from an over head wire.

I have mine climbing monofilament so just about any twine should do.

I am going to try this method I found on Youtube this year. It looks easy and quick. I bought nylon netting from amazon for something like $7 for a 5' x 30' net.

I like using the plastic/nylon netting too BUT it is almost impossible to find the right sizes mesh here, 4"x4" is as small as I like to go. Anyone know of a source where I can order it in Canada?

Thanks everyone! I'll give it a shot with the orange baling twine then. Not the prettiest thing to use in the garden, but hopefully it will be hidden in short stead.

I'm one of those people who has no knack whatsoever for working with any mesh that has opportunity to tangle. ;) If not for that fact, I'd be in there like a dirty shirt. Mesh makes a lot of sense.

I've used nylon mesh in the past, and I'm like you macky........trying to straighten it all out is a nightmare! haha
This year I bought several flat 4'x7' panels of concrete reinforcing wire and have put those up on my galvanized electrical conduit trellises, and I'll see how that goes. They won't ever wear out, so that's a plus.

I have lots of birds around here, and they love pulling pieces of whatever twine I've used in the past, for their nests. haha

It should work fine.
I use the organic/grass twine, so I can just put it all in the compost pile & be done with it.
