Some years ago I decided to plant some bulbs in a garden we keep at a family member's grave site in New Orleans. We got Narcissus, Freesias, and several bulbs whose name I cannot remember. The plants are distinctive in that the leaves are narrow, dark green, with a lighter stripe up the middle. At first we thought they were duds because they did not bloom through the whole time there was live foliage. That's from October to May/June here. We were startled when flower spikes appeared in the hottest part of the summer, and delicate red flowers appeared. Since then, they have continued to follow this pattern, blooming in mid-to late summer.

Any ideas what this could be? I do not have a picture, and will have to wait a few months in order to take one!
