Hi all, I planted some stargazers and casablancas a couple days ago in pots (3 bulbs per 10 inch diameter/12 inch height pots). I thought it'd be better for drainage if I added a 1-2 inch layer of rocks (about 1 inch diameter) at the bottom. The pots had several pretty large drainage holes (about 0.75 inch diameter) so I thought the rocks would help keep the soil in as well. However, when I water the plants, I notice that after it seems that all the water has drained out, a fair amount of water continues to drain out if I tilt the pot. Does this mean I need better drainage? I read some website that said inevitably there will still be a water table at the bottom of pots even with drainage holes. Additionally, I planted the lilies such that they have about 3 inches of soil underneath and abotu 5-6 inches of soil on top. Would this be adequate for rooting? Thanks.
