Overnight is fine in a dry place.

I'm not sure why you thought "a few days.......wasn't long enough"?

This is my first time dividing irises. I've divided cannas, but they are water loving.

Since bearded irises are somewhat prone to rot, I was probably overconcerned.

I checked the cuts, by trying to scrape them with my fingernail. Didn't make a dent, so that was how I determined they were ready. So, I planted them.

Thanks for the estimated time of overnight. It helps, because there isn't any real info on how long it takes those cuts to "heal".

It's been 6 days since I potted them. After a few days, some of them got a little smelly near the cuts. So, I took them out, washed them and they are drying again. However, most of them are doing fine.
