Here in zone 7 in NC my ag agent said to plant beans in May and in July.

Empress Bush beans show 55 days to maturity on most vendor sites. So you need to plant them 55 days plus 21 days, a total of 76 days, before your first anticipated fall frost. The 55 days is to allow them to mature and the 21 days is to allow them time to produce their crop, with bush beans usually finishing in 2-3 weeks. That's if you do it by the numbers.

I think I'd plant them a couple of weeks earlier since most beans do better in warm weather than cool weather, and in case they decided to produce longer than I'd anticipated!

I grew up in central Virginia 20 miles from Charlotteville, our last planting date for bush snap beans ( Burpees Stringless, Giant stringless) was August 15.
