Buds Falling Off?

I've noticed on my Mona Lisa's that the buds seem to be opening before the flowers are mature, and also twice now I've went and checked on the garden and noticed a bud on the ground. What would cause buds to fall off? Also, what would cause the buds to open prematurely?

I had the same problem. The birds were landing on the fat buds (looked like a good landing perch). I put stakes highter than the buds and the problem stoppped.

I've had this problem with one of my daylilies this year. I think it's a bug but I've been advised that it could be the heat or lack of water as well. ( I'm sure in my case it's not lack of water) I don't know if this problem would be the same in lilies as daylilies. I lost more than 1/2 the buds on an old favorite daylily. :~(
