I divided some iris late, after our local iris society sales so I thought I would stick them in pots for next spring's sale. I knew that avery paper address labels wouldn't last long, but I figured they would hold until our rains start in October or November.
Little did I know that snails/slugs love these paper address labels! I looked this morning and there are slime trails all over the plastic pots. No damage to the iris, but just fragmentary parts of labels: "...ingtow..", "...erize...", "...'s magi...". I only potted them a month ago, so fortunately, where the labels are completely eaten away, I can still read browned leaves with writing on them.
Guess I'll relabel them with duck tape!
