The best information I could find (sorry but I no longer remember the source) recommends against soaking bean seed. As I recall, the reason is that soaking can cause the seeds to crack, damaging them. Not everyone goes along with that advice, but I do.

I think the beans will germinate just as fast planted directly in the soil without soaking if you keep the soil moist and the soil temperature is warm enough, which it should be by now.

i have read if you do soak beans before planting, not to go any longer than one hour. i would probably only do it with old, old seeds. just plant them.

I'll stick them in the ground, and just make sure I keep the soil moist enough that they can germinate naturally. Soil temps are good now.

I had heard that soaking could speed germination, but I also was concerned that it could really damage the seed coat, and maybe even encourage disease problems.
