I'm cursed this year

First, I had a whole bunch of new bulbs which have not yet come up. Still hopeful, but mostly counting them as lost causes.

Then, I had squirrels chewing down the sprouts just as they came up. Some are completely gone, some were overlooked by the rodents.

Now, I'm planting out some annuals this evening, and my DH comes out of the house, looks over the garden and says "Hey, what's this red bug?" This is the first I've seen it, but yep, bright red bug on a lily. Can only be one thing.

Squished it, and then checked my last few remaining lilies for larvae. Picked it off one lily, and cut down another that was just too infested. Dropped them in a bleach and water solution to make sure they were good and dead.

Sigh. At this rate, the only way I'll enjoy lilies is by buying them at the florist.
