Do earwigs harm lilies??

This may be a very silly question--- but I'm going to ask it anyways. We have lots of earwigs in our area, and tonight after it got dark, I was out with the flashlight and noticed lots of them covering the flowers and buds on my daylilies. I thought this might be the reason why I have noticed some of the buds dying before they opened recently. I just planted these this year and they were doing great up until the last week.

I looked around my garden and noticed quite a few earwigs on my strawberry plants- again, clustered on the flowers and the buds. So maybe they aren't harming my lilies because the strawberries are doing fine?

Maybe it's because we've FINALLY gotten our Summer temp's (high 80's) and they are getting burned?? But I was thinking that lilies are known for taking full sun....

Does anyone else have problems with earwigs?
