So are half-runners P. coccineus or P. vulgaris? Also, are these the kind that sort of vine, but only get about 3-4ft tall?

I never remember which is which. They're the same kind as the bush and pole beans, not the kind the scarlett runners are.

I don't know if they'll get taller, but now the longest vines climbing my corn are about 2 feet.

I've never grown them before -- they're a southern sort of thing and I'm a recently transplanted Yankee still learning to adapt to this climate.

I'm adding these State Half Runners to my list of always-grow veggies. And it takes a LOT to get me to grow a bean that isn't purple or yellow (I hate picking the green ones, missing a couple, and having the whole plant shut down and die). But they are GOOD!

And they're growing like weeds despite the heat, the dryness, and the potassium deficient soil.
