Is this ok?

I was going to pick beans earlier today and I noticed this cauliflower looking stuff growing all over the stems of the plants. I'm trying to upload a picture, but it is hard, about a 1/4 inch thick and is located at the joints and along the stems of the plant. It is hard to the touch. I have looked online and can't find anything about it, what is it and how will it affect my plant? Is there something I should do? This is my first year gardening and I've noticed my bean crop has slowed considerably and I'm wondering if this is it. Thanks!
