I have a large perennial bed where I have many large Lilies growing. Over the past few weeks I noticed a strange white bug, which at first I thought were mealy bugs. When I would touch the white, it would hop off the plant. I was convinced these were not mealies.

I also summer my Orchids outside near this bed and found the same bug on many of them.

Went away for a week and now notice many Lilie buds have blasted and my Orchids are covered with a white-like substance. I'm not sure how to treat this. I'm not sure if this is a mealy bug problem. I'm certain that these bugs are the reason for the Lilie buds dying.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Jane
