those are incadesent bulbs, produce heat and are not efficent.

but if you are only using them to add some light, you can't go wrong, don't expect any major results, and be prepared for some plant stretching, they will. The light spectrum can not be produced buy dying the lense and expecting a arc flash ( filement ) to produce any ( real ) usable light.

What he said. Any light is better than no light, and at $3 per bulb, if you're just trying to add a little light, it's a pretty ok deal.

Look to moving to some other lighting setup, though.

What you bought is a 60w spotlight with a Neodymium coating.

The Neodymium layer absorbs a large amount of the yellow part of the light output, delivering a supposedly "daylight" color spectrum. Basically, it is a normal incandescent bulb that is missing 15-20% of it's yellow.

Although this is a very inefficient light source for plants, compared to other options on the market, it can be an attractive supplement to plants which already get some light from windows.

As far as serious indoor gardening goes, though, this is not the light to get.
