Lycoris are moody about being moved and sometimes do not bloom the first year they're moved. If they fail to bloom, we see foliage later. You will need to mulch, mulch, mulch to protect them from the cold.

I can't remember how deep I planted them, but they are starting to come up now. They may not bloom for you this year. the foilage will appear next spring.

I posted a comment about this but want you to know results of my web research. About 4 sites said plant even with soil. Some said have top l/4 in. exposed. Another 4 sites said plant deeper, their instructions ranging from 3 in to 8 in.deep. Several said to mulch in colder climantes. I wonder how there can be such discrepancies in planting depth. I'm at a loss now how deep to plant the dozen I just ordered. It took years before mine bloomed this year (2011) for the first time. I was shocked to see them. Had forgotten I'd ever planted them.
