Honestly, unless your plants come from a part of the world where there is an extreme difference in daylength, you will not experience any advantages in varying daylength I don't think.

Wouldn't it depend on where your plants are native to?

Have thought about this. If you have plants that grow right along the equator--regardless of elevation or coolness--("semi-tender plants"?)--they would want 12 hour days year round. On the other hand, some plants bloom in response to longer or shorter daylengths. Others need a cool spell or a dry spell.
