lily virus

Hello all -

Here is a picture taken this summer of one of my lilies that has a virus that kind of reminds me of the old 'broken' tulips. The year before the flowers were normal, all being a uniform pink. I had never heard of a lily virus that affected the flowers, only the leaves. The really unusual thing is that I was at a nursery this summer and they had pots of lilies (that were saved from last year) that had the same variegation to the flowers. I am thinking that there were infected aphids or thrips in the area that must have been making the rounds, infecting all lilies and other susceptible plants that they came across. As interesting as these were, they have all been dug up and destroyed so that they don't infect my other lilies - anyone else have this happen to their lilies this season?
