I had a really outstanding lily this year. It was mislabeled so I may no ever know what it was. Considering that is came in a package of 5 from the hardware store sale table, I got very much bang for very little buck. (Well, I had lots of outstanding lilies, but mysteries always have power over me.)

It was supposed to be an Asiatic, but the flower was much much bigger than any other Asiatic I have. It was taller than my tallest asiatics by maybe 8 inches. The petals were notably thick and waxy, and the stems were very thick, like the base of my thumb. It was a creamy off white, like whipped butter, with no spots at all. The bloom time was at the end of the asiatics, overlapping with the orientals.

I compared it with my only OT lily, Honeymoon, and the leaves were different, more Asiatic-like, though wider and thicker than my known asiatics. There was no curling of the petals either, and not the marked petal tip recurving of orientals.

IÂm wondering, could this be a LA lily?
