I do have some Orientals and Trumpets that are close to the house on the south side that come back each year but in our Zone 03 we have to stick with mostly Asiatics. I have ordered some of the new Oriental x Asiatic crosses and have been "wowed" by "Fancy Crown, Fuego Crown and Sunny Crown. They are really quite large flowered and grow about 31/2 ft high. I just received "Elegant Crown last week which is a pink lily so can't wait for it next year. I've noticed they don't multiply as fast as Asiatics but I've learned to have patience. Some of the best Asiatics I just love are the L/A crosses such as "Fangio", "Original Love" and Modern Style. I probably have at least 70 different Asiatics and I love them all but some like I've mentioned really stand out. I get most of my lilies from the Lilynook in Neepawa Manitoba @ www.lilynook.mb.ca and have found them excellent. Stan

What luscious pictures, Alina! I have been considering Black Out as I love dark redÂeverywhere! I bought Monte Negro last year but it turned out to have too much orange in it, and the petals are too narrow. IÂm trying 2 new reds to replace it. Black Out looks amazing. I think I have to have this. You definitely have some exotic beauties there.

Stanly, I just bought a Copper Crown. All of the crown series IÂve seen have been really beautiful. I wish there were more available in the US.

I realized that I didnÂt post my own. Thinking of what favorites I had is what made me realize how few I had that had that "Wow" factor. So I bought a lot both this spring and this fall, consciously trying to correct this. Some of the spring planted ones have not bloomed yet so I will find out next summer if I hit the mark!

My favorite exotic asiatic is Toronto, a deep salmon pink with a heart of creamy yellow. Petal color is actually graduated from the darkest color on the edges to the lightest in the center of each petal. My favorite exotic Orienpet is Honeymoon, which is a subtle but truly rich shade of warm golden honey. Form for each flower is amazingly perfect. I donÂt have a favorite for the other classesÂmaybe next year I will!

I like lilium Michangnese, Red Dutch, Silk Roads, Casablanca.

Olina is a dramatic and long lasting rich dark lily, everyone had commented on this one in my garden. I will also put my vote in for Shocking and Red Dutch ... Fata Morgana is also a favorite! I planted several other rather exotic looking lilies and really look forward to seeing them do their thing next summer. Terry

Red Dutch

I'm new at planting lilies and planted some for the first time this fall. I have a small yard, so can only plant a few. I purchased Casa Blanca, Stargazer, Mona Lisa, Centerfold and Gran Gru from John Scheepers. I also purchased Fatina Morgana and Anastasia from Brent & Beckys Bulbs. The others I hope to purchase soon is Arena, Rosy Dawn, Sunny Crown, Salmon Star, Navona and Aphrodite. Shocking, Touching, and Red Dutch all appear to be red/yellow and can't make up my mind which to buy. I'm also putting blackout on my list. Thanks for the beautiful pics!

I have Aphrodite, but in my opinion it is nothing special. Petals are kind of twisty which could be nice in theory but isnÂt in fact: just looks deformed instead. Petals are narrow too which I find I donÂt like. Color is a dull peach, like a browned pink. So save your money on that one! It does not produce many flowers either.

I have Navona and love it. I have seen 2 white lilies called Navona in online pictures: one with some spots and one that is pure white. I donÂt know which is the "right" Navona; mine has the spots but is spectacular, huge and impressive.

I do like that Red Dutch: I have not heard of that one before. Where did you buy it? I still want Blackout but I have not found a good source (without spending a lot, that is). I bought Touching this fall and am looking forward to seeing it.

Great picture! Are your Clematis and that Red Dutch in semi-shade? I am afraid I lost my Red Dutch lilies to crown rot... I bought Sweetheart from B&D this year. It looks very similar to RD. Just love the color contrast.

It is really great that you grow Orienpets in your zone! With Trumpets in their parentage, they are not supposed to be hardy beyond zone 5.

It is very quiet on this forum... I would love to see more Lilies...

Alina_1 ... any lilies that might be considered tender in my zone are planted deeply and near the foundation of my home.

This is Royal Sunset - an LA Hybrid. This was my first year for it -planted last spring and it blew me away. The color was gorgeous. I got it at the Lily Nook and have ordered Royal Present for this year.
