We are currently reno-ing our kitchen and have a major issue. We tore down a wall that seperated the kitchen and dining area to give it a more open concept feel. After the tear down, we realized that our ceilings are different! I am not sure how I missed this but now we are left with two different types of ceilings. My assumption is that the kitchen was a renovated before we purchased and they have left the remainder of the house with the popcorn ceiling (yuck).

We really do not want to take down the ceiling and removing the popcorn is a lot of work that we are avoiding at all costs. We also had to repair some of the ceiling so there are is another texture up there that isn't flowing well. We are contemplating on some type of beam but are hesistant since it doesn't break up the space accordingly.

What to do???

Please ignore the unfinished backsplash, old microwave, untrimmed window, makeshift wall of old closet doors(we cut a hole for a patio door and haven't had time to install it), lack of cabinet handles etc etc... It's still a work in progress. :)
