The indigenous approach to seed saving doesn't generally divide seeds by color. Instead, they keep everything they like, all together in the same "jar," so to speak. I have seed for another cowpea, from the state of Puebla, called Zongozotla Pintitos. It too has black, cream and even some transitional colors. It's quite normal. I believe it's only those greatly influenced by Northern European culture who tend to divide and catagorize to the extent we do, here in the USA.
