"MontvilleâÂÂs annual town meeting on Saturday passed a binding ordinance banning the cultivation of genetically engineered crops."
Growers using GM seed in the town have two years to get over it.
This is a great first step in Maine to start the elimination of genetic pollution. This is the first binding ban to so far be enacted outside of the State of California.
The link below also discusses legislation at the State level to protect Maine gardeners and growers from genetic trespass and the kinds of lawsuits that GM companies level at small growers who may unknowingly plant seed infected by their GMO products.
