Earlier in the week I went out and lifted my A. shirasawanum 'Autumn Moon' to improve the drainage. Normally we don't have to worry about drainage in this part of the country. But we have had such a wet spring I got worried. I lifted it with a couple of shovels and planted it at gound level and piled the soil around it. A local rain gage measured 3 inches last week in 24 hours. I know that isn't much for some of you but for around here that is a 100 year storm. I have a couple of more rather new maples that I want to do the same to tomorrow.
